A large number of people simply stopped trusting the experts. I can see why. When you understand how human societies function and you understand the power of financial incentives, possible counter-narratives start to emerge... The whole government-funded ESG trend is suspiciously convenient isn't it? Could it be one more excuse for governments to keep bailing out big corporations?

"OK, it turns out you were right, our monetary system has turned the economy into a negative-sum game but that's actually a good thing because now you're poor and can't afford electricity or fuel and therefore your CO2 emissions are lower. My dear taxpayer, your suffering is justified and necessary to save the planet. Now if you don't mind, I have a private jet to catch to go to Davos to secure a taxpayer-funded government ESG grant for my company."
