I also noticed a huge uptick in the number of poorly written but highly upvoted pro-TypeScript articles which seemed to have come out of nowhere a couple of years ago. I also noticed that people online started downvoting any comment which pointed out any flaws in TypeScript without providing any counter-arguments. It almost seemed like people were being paid to shill TypeScript. This article seems to reinforce this idea. When you take into account Microsoft’s acquisition of GitHub and npm, it does start to look like some kind of ploy to privatize open source.
