I disagree. I work insanely hard but everything substantial I ever got was because of dumb luck.
The odds of tossing a coin 20 times and always landing on heads is about 1 in a million. World population is approaching 8 billion people; so this means that there are 8k people in the world who are going to be so incredibly lucky that the 20 most significant events in their lives are all going to have positive outcomes. Imagine how much money a trader would make if the 20 biggest/riskiest trades in their lives all turned out to be profitable — There are 8k people in the world who will find themselves in this position; this is more than the number of billionaires in the world.
It’s deceptive to say that there is no luck, when in fact, luck is the most significant factor in life. You could get hit by a bus tomorrow. We are nothing but helpless amoeba, we can wiggle around as much as we want, but at the end of the day, we will end up where the currents take us.
