It's a plausible narrative. EU elites own a lot of US corporate stocks; this can certainly give them an incentive to sell out their own citizens for the benefit of US corporate interests. Overall, politicians in the west have sold out to corporate interests.
It's sad to see that most people in the comments seem to have naively bought the corporate narrative hook, line and sinker. This attitude reminds me why I left Europe earlier this year. If you're not a member of the corporate shareholder class, you can only lose in the negative-sum EU economy.
