The horrible part is that the system is broken in literally thousands of subtle ways. Together, these issues make the system completely dysfunctional but it's difficult for anyone to isolate or point out a single issue. That's why problems don't surface in public discourse and, instead, everyone is focusing on symptoms but they are incapable of addressing or resolving the root problems which caused the symptoms.
Even our society's base incentive layer; the monetary system is dysfunctional and creates opportunity asymmetries on a massive scale... All funded by citizen's money. Our own labor is weaponized against us both through taxes and inflation.
Inflation is particularly harmful because it hurts us in 3 major ways; the most obvious one is a persistent cost of living increase. Another way is that it creates asymmetric markets which gives some individuals an unfair competitive advantage over other individuals due to the Cantillon Effect. And finally, it hurts us because monopolistic behavior means that people's skills atrophy over time.
