This is a very simplistic view as it pretends that there is a shared interest among people but this is not the case. It should be increasingly obvious by now that there are diverging interests which are incompatible due to the fact that we have a zero-sum economic system. This is why the division between left and right has become so significant.
The system is setup to create such conflict at the base incentive layer.
Politics has become a battle over who controls the government money printer. The reason a lot of people voted for Trump really comes down to basic math that the average person didn't like how their taxpayer dollars were being spent under Biden. They preferred how Trump was spending the money.
By that measure, it's actually reasonable to think that Trump will be less harmful to the average person.
There is no such thing as universally 'less harmful'. Less harmful to whom? Beneficial to who else? That's always the case nowadays. There is no equality.
So long as some people have priority access to a money printer, there cannot be a free market. Without a free market, there will always be political divides and it will get worse because politics is becoming an increasingly significant avenue for earning money as it's destroying what's left of the free markets.
