What makes the author think that crypto is any more speculative than most big tech stocks? They're both propped up by money printing... You only have to look at what happened to big tech share prices after government COVID stimulus packages were announced to understand this.
Although I have a strong dislike for many people in the crypto space and I would probably be better off is they went bust, I could say the same about people who participate in the stock market. They've become part of a giant inflationary wealth extraction scheme. The inflation which is being experienced in most countries today is unsurprising; most popular stocks and cryptos are simply wealth extraction schemes. They are backed by people who lobby and manipulate governments and monetary institutions in order to give themselves access endless streams of easy money.
They are all corrupt and unethical to varying degrees... It wouldn't make sense to illegalize crypto but not illegalize corporate stocks. Unless you are beyond reproach, your moral arguments have no weight at all.
